STREET BEAUTIFICATION PROJECT REQUIRES TEMPORARY INTERSECTION CLOSURE CONTINUATION
A renowned local artist will be installing a decorative pavement mural at the heart of the area that hosts the popular Mar Vista Farmers Market, prompting a closure of the intersection of Grandview Boulevard and Pacific Avenue from February 7th - February 8th.
Grandview Boulevard and Pacific Avenue will remain open, but traffic will not be allowed through the intersection during the application and treatment of special skid-proof paint.
Local artist DJ Neff, known for his expertise with spray paint mediums in murals and other public spaces, is painting a colorful mural of a Koi pond at the intersection, in cooperation with Green Communications Initiative, the Los Angeles Department of Transportation, Bureau of Street Services, and the office of Councilmember Mike Bonin.
The treatment adds to the growing artistic flavor of downtown Mar Vista, which has seen the installation of several new murals, the addition of mini-murals on utility boxes, the installation of artistic panels on bus shelters, the recent addition of new trash cans featuring work by local artists, and the growing popularity of the quarterly Mar Vista Art Walk, which celebrates the community and promotes several of the local galleries.
Neighbors with questions about the traffic impacts can contact the Bureau of Street Services Special events at (213) 847-6082.
